Little Literacy Heroes 5K

The second annual Little Literacy Heroes 5K will be Sunday, Oct. 10, at One Daytona.

All proceeds benefit the Volusia County Imagination Library, which mails one free book each month to more than 3,400 children ages birth to 5 years old.

Xfinity and Camping Word series schedule set

Daytona International Speedway will host two NASCAR Xfinity Series and one NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races in 2022.

The NextEra Energy 250 for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will be Friday, Feb. 18. The Beef, It’s What’s For Dinner 300 will be Saturday, Feb. 19. The Wawa 250 Powered by Coca-Cola will be Aug. 26.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Daytona State College sports teams have several games this week.

ERAU women's soccer will face Eckerd at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 and Rollins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13.

ERAU volleyball will face Eckerd at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8; Saint Leo at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9; Tampa at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15 and Florida Southern at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16.

Surf Fishing Challenge

Surf Fishing Challenge from the Beaches will be Friday, Oct. 22, and Saturday, Oct. 23, with meet up at Lost Lagoon Wings & Grill, 2004 N. Dixie Freeway, New Smyrna Beach.

Targets will be red fish, whiting, bluefish and pompano.

Blaine O’Neal Memorial Golf Tournament

The Blaine O’Neal Memorial Golf Tournament will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at Cypress Head Golf Club, 6231 Palm Vista St., Port Orange,

All proceeds benefit the South Daytona Community Trust. The tournament is named in memory of Blaine O’Neal who served as Mayor of South Daytona for five years before his sudden death in 2010.

The cost is $85 per player.

Par and Purpose Golf Tournament for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Cranes Lakes, 1850 Cranes Lake Blvd., Port Orange.

Registration will start at 7 a.m.

The cost is $100 per player, $400 per team and $30 per non-golfer luncheon only. Ticket includes breakfast, snacks, greens fee, range ball, two drink tickets and awards luncheon.

Golf tournament to benefit Marine Science Center

Tee off for turtles at a golf tournament that will benefit Volusia County’s Marine Science Center.

The tournament, sponsored by Paul Culver Construction, will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Saturday, Oct. 9, at Cypress Head Golf Club, 6231 Palm Vista St., Port Orange. It will be played in the four-person scramble format.

Proceeds will benefit the Marine Science Center’s programs.

Table tennis challenge

The East Volusia/Flager Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host “Talk of the Town” table tennis challenge 2021 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at Warner Christian Academy Gym, 1730 S. Ridgewood Ave., South Daytona.

The competition will start at 10 a.m. with opening prayer and signing of “God Bless America”.

Memorial benefits junior golfers

The 19th Annual Jane Cerrone Memorial Golf Tournament will be 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the LPGA International Jones Course, 1000 Champions Drive, Daytona Beach.

Registration and continental breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m.

Entry fee is $100 per person, which includes golf, breakfast, lunch, range balls, special events, prizes and commemorative tournament gift. There will be an optional 50/50 and raffle.

The tournament will benefit Junior Golf and First Tee programs in Volusia County.

Entry fee is $120 per player, or $70 for Sugar Mill members for practice balls, carts, golf, lunch, prizes and refreshments.
