Coke Zero Sugar 400 tickets now on sale
Tickets for the 62nd annual Coke Zero Sugar 400, which has been moved to Aug. 29 as the NASCAR Cup Series regular season finale at Daytona International Speedway, are now on sale.

Bulow Woods Trail Race and Ultra Marathon
The sixth annual Bulow Woods Trail Race and Ultra Marathon will be Saturday, Dec. 7, at 3351 Old Dixie Highway, Ormond Beach.
The event will have a 50K Ultra Marathon, a 1/2 Marathon and a 4-plus Mile Run/Walk, all on the Bulow Woods Trail.
All events will start and end at the foot of the 400-year-old Fairchild Oak.
A portion of the race proceeds will go to the Friends of Tomoka Basin State Parks to help maintain the trails and promote the Bulow Woods heritage.
The post race party and awards ceremonies will offer food, drinks and music. Camping is available in the park in the Group Camping Area or by reserving a private spot at reserveamerica.com.
The cost of the 50K is $95, the half marathon is $85 and the run/walk is $45.

County plans holiday softball tournament
Volusia County Parks, Recreation and Culture is organizing its annual holiday softball tournament, which will be Dec. 6-8 at Robert Strickland Park, 1670 Strickland Range Road, Daytona Beach.
The team entry fee in this three-game guarantee tournament is $275 and deadline is Nov. 22.

Daytona Beach Half Marathon Feb. 8-9
The 12th annual Daytona Beach Half Marathon, presented by Brown and Brown Insurance, returns Feb. 8-9.
The 13.1-mile race again offers runners the opportunity to start at Daytona International Speedway and run to the beach and back.

Racing icon named starter for Daytona 500
Two-time Daytona 500 champion Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been named the Honorary Starter for the 62nd running of “The Great American Race” Sunday, Feb. 16 at Daytona International Speedway.
The announcement was made on Mr. Earnhardt’s popular Dirty Mo Media podcast, The Dale Jr. Download.
Mr. Earnhardt, Daytona 500 champion in 2004 and 2014, has been a regular attendee at the race since he completed his final full-time season as a NASCAR Cup Series driver in 2017. He was the Official Pace Truck Driver for this year’s race and in 2018 served as Grand Marshal.

DeBary Parks and Recreation will host registration for several programs.
Youth Dodgeball for boys and girls ages 6-14 will be from Jan. 4 to Feb. 22, register by Jan. 2. The cost is $60 per child, which includes includes jersey and participation award.
Youth Kickball for boys and girls ages 6-14 will be from Jan. 7 to Feb. 18 at Rob Sullivan Community Park, 200 W. Highbanks Road.
Adult kickball registration will be until Jan. 10. Games will be Friday nights at 6:15 p.m. Jan. 24 to April 3, at Rob Sullivan Community Park.

Sugar Mill women begin season with Silver Cups
The Sugar Mill Women's Golf Association 18 Hole Division began its 46th golf season with a scramble, luncheon and meeting Oct. 24.
New members were introduced and nine former presidents of the organization, founded in 1973, were recognized.
On Nov. 7 and 8 the first major tournament, The Silver Cups Tournament was Nov. 7-8.
Originally called the Margaret Drinkle Tournament, named for an early member who donated the first Silver Cup and later added the Drinkle Cup II for the second flight winner. In 1980, Maitland Knox, the President of the First Bank of New Smyrna Beach, donated the Banker's Cup in honor of his wife, Wanda. The fourth award, the Braeburn Cup, was anonymously given in 2001 by a Sugar Mill member. Two more cups were added later, the Carnoustie Cup and the Sugar Mill Cup (for the championship flight winner).

Tennis club meets
The Redneck Tennis Club for seniors 55 and older plays tennis at 7:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Detwiler Park, 701 Horton Ave., New Smyrna Beach.

Golf tourney raises $100,000 for foundation
Nearly 150 golfers joined the AdventHealth Daytona Beach Foundation for the sold-out 10th annual golf tournament Nov. 8 at LPGA International in Daytona Beach.
The scramble’s net proceeds totaled more than $103,000 and will support crucial programs at the hospital.
Orlando-based contractor Robins & Morton was the event’s presenting sponsor.
The Ormond Beach Shuffleboard Club will meet at 1 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday (weather permitting) at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex at 700 Hull Road.
Shuffleboard courts are near the playground area. Membership with unlimited access to courts is $15 per year.
