Lady angler tournament

Halifax Sport Fishing Club will host its 31st annual Lady Angler Fishing Tournament Saturday, May 18.

Only ladies can catch the fish. Guys can only drive the boat and gaff the fish.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place for wahoo, dolphin and king fish. There also will be a junior angler and senior angler award and prize for most decorated boat.

A captain's meeting will be at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, May 16, at the club at 3431 S. Ridgewood Ave., Port Orange. An awards ceremony will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, May 10, at the club.

Drivers picked for NASCAR Drive for Diversity

Four youth drivers have been selected to hone their racing skills as participants in the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Youth Driver Development Program.

NASCAR and Rev Racing hosted a youth driver combine at GoPro Motorplex in Mooresville, N.C., where drivers ages 12 to 16 were evaluated during practice sessions and heat races.

The four drivers are Rajah Caruth, 16, an iRacing competitor from Washington D.C., Lacy Kuehl, 12, of Sarasota; Blake Lothian, 16, a World Formula Kart driver from Wellesley, Mass; and U.S. Legends car driver Isabella Robusto, 14, of Fort Mill, S.C.

Tortugas at home

The Daytona Tortugas will face will face the Lakeland Flying Tigers at 7:05 p.m. Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11 at 110 E. Orange Ave., Daytona Beach.

The Tortugas are off Sunday, May 12, and will be on the road through Monday, May 20, when they return home to face Clearwater.

Play shuffleboard

The Ormond Beach Shuffleboard Club meets at 1 p.m. each Monday, Wednesday and Friday, (weather permitting) at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex at 700 Hull Road.

Shuffleboard courts are near the children's playground.

Summer Sports Clinics

Registration is underway for summer sports clinics in Ormond Beach. Registrations are completed in the same manner as all other recreational programs. Visit ormondbeach.org to register, or register in person at the Ormond Beach Leisure Services Registration Office, 399 N U.S. 1.

Coed Baseball & Softball Fundamentals Clinic will meet from June 10 to 13.

Coed Baseball & Softball Power Hitting Clinic will meet from June 17 to 20.

Coed Summer Golf Clinic will meet from July 8 to 11.

Coed Basketball Clinic will meet from July 29 to Aug. 1.

All clinics meet from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $60 for members and $88 for non-members.
