Youth fishing clinic

The Halifax Sport Fishing Club will host a Kids Can Fish Too carnival-style fishing clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at 3431 S. Ridgewood Ave,, Port Orange. This event was originally scheduled for Jan. 9.

Children ages 6-15 are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult.

The clinic will teach children about fishing, rules, regulations, safety, knots and conservation in a carnival style atmosphere with prizes.

Men’s softball league to play at Strickland Park

Volusia County’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Division is forming teams for a men’s adult softball league.

Teams will play Tuesday and Thursday nights beginning Jan. 19 at Robert Strickland Park, 1670 Strickland Range Road, Daytona Beach.

The cost is $475 for men’s teams, which will play a 10 to 12 game schedule. The league also will have an end-of-season tournament.

Team managers will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, in Strickland Park’s recreation building.

Tournaments scheduled

The Halifax Sport Fishing Club has announced its 2021 tournament season.

The 20th annual Offshore Challenge will be April 10-24 in which participants may fish any two days during those dates.

The 33rd annual Lady Angler will be June 5 and the first-ever Kingfish Tournament will be Aug. 21.

Men's Senior Softball League

A 50 and older men's senior softball league is now forming.

Games are played on Tuesday and Thursday evening at the New Smyrna Beach Sports Complex.

Tennis club meets

The Redneck Tennis Club for seniors 55 and older plays tennis at 7:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Detwiler Park, 701 Horton Ave., New Smyrna Beach.

New members welcome. Participants should bring racket and something to drink. All experience levels welcome. Free to play.
