Gentle yoga class

AdventHealth Daytona Beach will host a free gentle yoga class at 5:30 p.m. each Tuesday at the Cancer Institute Conference Room, 224 Memorial Medical Parkway, Daytona Beach.

Kim Friedman, a Christina Phipps Foundation certified instructor, will teach the class.

Ormond Beach Council on Aging Senior Center, 351 Andrews St., offers these exercise programs.

•New Balance & Stability, 8:45 a.m. Tuesday. Fee is $5. Registration is required.

Swimming Centers

The Cypress and Campbell Aquatics Centers are heated with a Geothermal heat system and available for year-round swim and exercise.

Cypress Aquatics Facility, 981 George W. Engram Blvd.: Hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 8 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Fees are adults $3 and youth $2. Lap Swim, 7 a.m.-noon Monday to Friday or at least one lane is reserved for lap swim any time. Fee is $3 per visit.

Learn Tai Chi

Get fit and flexible at the Edgewater library

Get moving at the Edgewater Public Library, 103 Indian River Blvd., which hosts ongoing exercise programs for adults.

Beginners of all ages can try chair yoga from 1 to 2 p.m. every Monday. This gentle form of yoga uses a chair for seated poses and for support during standing poses.

Seniors can take part in low-impact exercises from noon to 1 p.m. every Friday.

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Bring a bottle of water.

Improve your balance at the Edgewater library

Learn how to improve balance and prevent falls during a four-week program at the Edgewater Public Library, 103 W. Indian River Blvd.

Seniors may attend all eight sessions from 2 to 4 p.m. every Tuesday and Friday from May 7 through 31.

The program is offered by the Northeast Florida Area Health Education Center, which works in partnership with ElderSource.

Piggotte Community Center

Chair Yoga class is offered from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday at 504 Big Tree Road, South Daytona.

The cost is $7 per person, per class. If you are able to come 15 minutes early, there is Sky Styx Yoga free. The class is designed for all skill levels.

Hatha Yoga is offered from 5:45-7:15 p.m. Tuesdays. The cost is $10 per person, per class. Bring a mat and towel from home. Come 15 minutes early to experience Sky Styx Yoga free.

Sit and be fit at the Lake Helen library

Adults can take part in free, weekly exercise programs at the LakeHelen Public Library, 221 N. Euclid Ave.

Library employee Charles Schwab leads “Sit and Be Fit” at 11 a.m. every Wednesday. The program focuses on stretch and strengthening

exercises that can be done from a seated position. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a towel.
