In response to: 'O, Floriduh'
I went to a motor vehicle office years ago to change my address (within 14 days of moving, as required by law).
I was informed I needed to provide utility bills showing my new address. I don't know a single utility company that issues weekly bills. I informed the clerk that by law, I was required to notify them, and to consider themselves notified. Not my problem if they didn't want to enter my new address into their computer.
The duh in “O, Floriduh” refers to the geniuses who write those ridiculous laws.
Thanks for the A/C
I want to thank Ross Air Condition and Heating Services for fixing my air condition, and all the rest of the people who helped pay in getting my air conditioner fixed.
May God bless you all. I love you all. God is good all the time. Thank you very, very much.
Good street work
A very special thank you to the employees of the City of Daytona Beach who maintain Plaza Boulevard.
You have made the lives of all who use the intersection of Plaza Boulevard and Halifax Drive so much safer by removing the bushes that were blocking the view of pedestrians and drivers. Again, thank you very much.
No proration blues
Another monthly statement and another bit of unwanted news from Spectrum.
Beginning in June, they will no longer prorate when the customer cancels service. So if you cancel your service, you still have to pay for all the days, even the ones you did not use. Who allows this?
Save the charm
New Smyrna Beach, lets save the charm.
The charm is long gone. We don't need to build another high-rise building, right on the water, next to another high-rise. Where does the runoff go? Let's let it drain into the Intracoastal.
Why do we not have cisterns, like other countries? Very sad. Local citizens need to get involve and help save our environment.
Of more importance than half-cent or not
Rather than an opportunity for a convenient way to vote, the most recent mail ballot election was the one and only way to vote.
With a possible loss of such ballots lost along with other such fraudulent practices, the potential ramifications for a fair count are staggering. Whichever side a vote favors about a given issue, equally significant is them provided the ongoing right to vote in person.
To the point of qualified citizens expressing their consent or objection regarding the recent Volusia County's sales tax referendum, precincts most certainly should have, as in the past, had voting booths open Tuesday, May 21.
AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach
A few weeks ago, I was admitted to Advent Hospital (Room 317B) for one week.
I have to admit, I had heard horror stories about this hospital. So from my own overall experience I have to say I was thankfully surprised.
From the top to the bottom of the staff, I have never had such out standing loving professional care in any hospital I've ever been in both out of state and in state. I would go back in a instant.
Don't dump on me
Next time you think about renting a mega-yacht or going on a cruise, research how much human waste they are allow to dump in the ocean.
Education yourself. Educate others. Help save mother Earth.
I see people ranting and raving about the four-foot wide sidewalks that go from New Smyrna Beach to Oak Hill and the pedestrian bridge on State Road 442.
I want to educate. It is the homeless highway. Careful how you travel. There are trails that go off in the woods that cater to the homeless.
What are you going to do with the homeless? They have more rights then homeowners. Why is that?
I go to the movies every Tuesday.
This week, I saw “John Wick.” It is the most violent movie I have ever seen in my life. The language wasn't too bad, but you wonder why children are the way they are today and the world is the way it is.
