A rave, rave, rave

There haven't been many raves lately, but there is a really big one – a rave, rave, rave.

My neighbors on Seabreeze Drive in Ormond-by-the-Sea, Tom and Carolyn Botchie, bring me and another senior on the block, hot, beautiful home-cooked meals after working all day. We are blessed to have them living on Seabreeze Drive.

Let the mural change

To those concerned the new proposed art project on the Martin Luther King Jr. overpass in New Smyrna Beach will paint over "your fish" -- your middle-school art has graced this town for 20 years.

You're all grown adults now. Don't you think this is a great opportunity to celebrate the diversity of our beautiful town? There is plenty of art around New Smyrna Beach featuring ocean life. This project could highlight the variety of backgrounds and identities in our residents and visitors.

And if you think this is Critical Race Theory being forced upon you, you have some serious reading to do. This is a way for New Smyrna Beach to show everyone that they are welcome here.

Responding to two rants

First, “Need Better Planning:” When I lived in Las Vegas, working in the casinos, new employees would start with at this or that casino, we did things differently.

One supervisor would take them to the sign out front and say “what does that sign say” and they would say it. Then he would say well now you work here this is how we do it. So now you live in Volusia County and this is how they do it. Deal with it.

Second, also to the “Better Ramps:” You do know that you can drive on the beach down the ramps and you can unload all your stuff from your car onto the beach. Think about it

Really support the troops

The 4th of July is coming up again.

This means every idiot with a lighter will be shooting off loud fireworks for days. These same people are the ones who have signs, flags and banner's stating how they support our troops.

So, if you truly support our troops, show it by not turning the city into a war zone. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is real people. I do believe many who shoot off these fireworks never were in a war.

Independence Day isn't until July 4

On Wednesday, June 23, at the southeast corner of State Road 445 and West Willow Oak, we didn't know at first if there was a shooting or a car wreck.

That was until the second loud boom.

The people who are staying there don't seem to understand when the 4th of July is. Thanks to their selfishness and rudeness, we are now wondering what is next. Why is this stupidity allowed in Edgewater?

With the little rain there has been, I guess some adult supervision is required there; at least I know who to sue if we have damages. All our cameras are now activated.

Open the bank lobby

Is there any bank that has their lobby open to serve their customers?

SunTrust continues to require an appointment to enter their doors to conduct bank business, which I resent. The excuse given was that they cannot hire enough employees to staff the bank, but as I sit in my car I can see four employees moving around inside. Who knows how many more are in the offices.

I am ready to move the contents of my safety deposit box and my money to another bank which would appreciate my business more than SunTrust.

In response to: 'Don't want to keep on truckin'

I realize there was/is a lot of traffic as well as other issues during all of the events related to Daytona International Speedway.

What I find disturbing is there was no comparison in the article between other events, such as the bike events, Jeep events, etc. I personally find it very difficult to believe, especially without the comparison available that the truck event is any worse than some of the others. Maybe it is, but how would anyone know without those numbers?

I have lived in the Daytona Beach area for many years and have been through all of these events many times, not only here, but also in Myrtle Beach, S.C. I dare say the Bike Weeks in Myrtle Beach are multiple times worse than anything we see here, but again I don't have the data to back that up, just my experiences.

For all of us to make informed decisions we really need to see the data on all the events instead of just one. It would also be good to know how much income the event brings in not just a simple statement "Local business did make some money."

I have not seen, nor could I find any video with over 500,000 views let alone 1 billion. Maybe it was so offensive it was taken down; I don't know, but that seems unlikely. Don't get me wrong, I know there were problems, there always is!
