Volusia County Beach Safety and Ocean Rescue Division will celebrate Beach Safety Week beginning today (May 22).
Safety information and tips will be posted daily on social media to help beachgoers prepare for successful and safe beach outings this summer. Follow Volusia County Beaches on Facebook and Instagram to learn more.
A Beach Safety Week proclamation presentation will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, at Beach Safety Headquarters, 515 S. Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach.Â
Rip currents are an ongoing threat going into the weekend, and the safest way to enjoy the water is always in front of a staffed lifeguard tower. The Volusia Beaches app is updated daily and exhibits water conditions and where lifeguards are stationed.
For more information, visit volusia.org/beach, download the Volusia Beaches mobile app or call (386) 239-6414.
Two or more members of the Volusia County Council plan to attend the proclamation presentation.
County Council members’ presence and participation may constitute a public meeting for purposes of Florida Statutes Section 286.011.
For more information, call the County Manager’s Office at (386) 736-5920.
