Stetson University in DeLand continues to shine.

Stetson ranks No. 5 on U.S. News and World Report’s 2022 list of Best Regional Universities (South). Stetson made four other lists in the same category: Best Undergraduate Teaching (No. 11 -- tie), Best for Veterans (No. 12), Best Value Schools (No. 13) and Best Social Mobility (No. 24).

There are 137 universities in the category, and the overall ranking of No. 11 is a tie with Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, according to Stetson Spokeswoman Sandra Carr.

Ray Nault, vice president of enrollment management, said he is and others are “thrilled” with the ranking.

“Stetson continuously strives to assist its students on their path toward academic and career success,” Mr. Nault said.

At this point, Ms. Carr said the total number of enrolled students is 3,309 with 2,884 in undergraduate programs and 425 in graduate programs. She said the total number of faculty members is 307 with 219 full-time faculty and 88 adjunct faculty.

Student-teacher ratio in undergraduate programs is 13:1, she said. Sixty-one percent of classes have less than 20 students and .3% of classes have 50 or more students.

Carr said there are 109 areas of study on Stetson's DeLand campus, which include all majors and pre-professional programs, pre-med, pre-law, etc.

U.S. News & World Report ranks Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport No. 2 in Trial Advocacy and No. 5 for Legal Writing in the United States, according to Ms. Carr. Stetson has been ranked as the top law school for Trial Advocacy 23 times in 27 years, and has consistently ranked among the top six legal writing programs since the inception of the Legal Writing rankings in 2005.

Stetson also has been named as one of the top universities by The Princeton Review’s 2022 edition of The Best 387 Colleges, Money’s Best Colleges and Forbes’ America’s Top Colleges.

Stetson was founded in 1883 and is the oldest private university in Central Florida. The historic DeLand campus, which includes 97 buildings, focuses on intense learning experiences in a supportive community that allows students to develop their voice in a connected, inclusive environment.
