Over 35 years after selling fresh fruit to the community on street corners and 24 years in the original New Smyrna Beach location, Perrine’s Fresh Food Market recently moved to a new, larger location.
The local grocers, who also have stores in Port Orange and Ormand Beach, moved to a former Save A Lot site at 720 S Dixie Freeway from a smaller site nearby. The owners and Perrine’s Produce regulars are extremely excited about having a bigger space for the community.
Perrine’s Produce is a farmers market that offers a unique shopping experience, featuring fresh produce, deli meat, flowers, confections and items from the Ohio Amish country. There is a wide range of options from local businesses and farms available to residents and tourists. Each week Perrine’s features new specials to choose from.
As a family-run business, Perrine’s Produce understands the importance of offering different selections that will appeal to everyone in the family. As a result, the new location will provide space for more special, one-of-a-kind products. This includes horseradish cheddar, Lebanon bologna and other delicious offerings.
Florida’s two growing seasons allow the market to feature quality fruits and vegetables year-round. Patrons can count on delicious meals on their dinner table after stopping by Perrine’s. Also, Perrine’s can now sell wine in New Smyrna Beach due to the expansion.
However, moving down the street was not in the original plan.
“Somebody had told me that the location might be available. It hadn't crossed my mind. I saw the place and I was impressed. It was large and clean with plenty of parking. It was a sudden revelation” said Junior Perrine, who founded and owns Perrine’s with his wife, Dianna and family.
The new location allows the business to further replicate the experience shoppers have in the Port Orange and Ormond Beach stores. Perrine's invests in the New Smyrna Beach community through social media giveaways and events surrounding Halloween, Winter Holidays and Memorial Day. With the increase of space, Perrine’s can host events similar to ones at their other locations.
“The fact that we can make it more like our other two locations (is exciting), so we have three that are similar. So, no matter where you are you have the same type of service and products,” Mr. Perrine said.
The new New Smyrna beach location still has the intimate, “hometown market feel” integrated throughout the other stores and history.
Since the move just recently occurred, Mr. Perrine believes it will take a few weeks for them to settle in.
