Hopeful Graduates

Food Brings Hope honored two of its FBHonors Program students on their recent graduations at a celebration dinner attended by Forough Hosseini, CEO and founder of FBH; Judi Winch, executive director; and Michelle Lone, VCan2020 director; plus other guests and FBHonors students.

Jakyra McCloud and Sydney White were awarded diplomas with Honors from Mainland High School at the commencement ceremony. Jakyra and Sydney have been FBHonors members since fourth grade when the program first started at Westside Elementary School.

FBHonors is an after school program that provides academic and personal enrichment opportunities for high achieving students in the KidsZone and TeenZone programs. The girls were in the program for nine years from Westside to Campbell Middle Schol to Mainland.

While at Mainland, Sydney was in The Academy of Hospitality and Culinary Arts and was boys basketball manager. She will attend Florida A&M University in the fall, studying business.

Jakyra participated in The Academy of Scientific Inquiry and Medicine and Student Government, She will attend the University of Florida this fall on a scholarship for her outstanding academic performance.
