There were 257 new cases of Covid-19 in Volusia County with 4.8% of residents testing positive for the week of June 11 to 17, according to the Florida Department of Health.

The results were up slightly from 246 new cases with 4.1% of residents testing positive in the previous week.

The department also reported Friday, June 18, that 249,935 Volusia residents out of an estimated population of 552,328 have been vaccinated with 2,313 getting at least one shot in the June 11-17 period.

Volusia has had total cases of 44,757, or 16.8% of the population.

Statewide there were 10,629 new cases, or 3.3% of residents tested, in the 7-day period with 43 deaths. The state has now had a total of 2,310,881 cases.

There were 373,438 people receiving at least one vaccination in the past week with a total of 10,659,464, according to the state report.

The state is no longer reporting new information on a daily basis now that the percentage of residents testing positive is below 5%.
