Covid-19 cases continue to decline

There were 246 new cases of Covid-19 in Volusia County with 4.1% of residents testing positive for the week of June 4 to 10, according to the Florida Department of Health.

The results were down from 268 new cases with 5.2% of residents testing positive in the previous week.

The department also reported Friday, June 11, that 246,971 Volusia residents out of an estimated population of 552,328 have been vaccinated with 3,164 getting at least one shot in the June 4-10 period.

Volusia has had total cases of 44,491, or 16.8% of the population.

Statewide there were 12,157 new cases, or 3.4% of residents tested, in the 7-day period with 40 deaths. The state has now had a total of 2,300,785 cases.

There were 413,880 people receiving at least one vaccination in the past week with a total of 10,460,797, according to the state report.

The state is no longer reporting new information on a daily basis now that the percentage of residents testing positive is below 5%.
