The West Volusia Regional Chamber of Commerce is launching Economic Forums, in 2019, with the first forum to feature U.S. Department of Transportation Deputy Assistant Secretary Anthony Bedell.
The event will be in conjunction with the release of its 2019 Legislative Agenda.
As the voice of business in West Volusia, the chamber looks to provide opportunities to advance conversations on improving the climate for business growth and sustainability, economic development, and stimulate innovation in our community. The legislative agenda was developed in light of the strong growth forecast for Florida, and Volusia County in particular.
The chamber strongly recommends that local legislative bodies begin to prepare now for the impact of additional workers, homes, businesses, and workforce. A well-developed transportation infrastructure is critical to enable the success and sustainability of the commercial sector.
The Economic Forums will provide a vehicle for regional cooperation and facilitate discussions on multi-jurisdictional issues. The first event, on Jan. 24 at the DeBary Golf & Country Club, will feature a keynote address from Secretary Bedell followed by a panel discussion with local governments discussing their top transportation infrastructure goals.
According to Shari Simmans, the Chamber’s Executive Director, “We look forward to hosting Secretary Bedell in Volusia and provide a forum for our local governments to have a meaningful discussion on regional transportation challenges.”
