City of Deltona to host job fair

The City of Deltona will host a job fair from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at The Center at Deltona.

Applications will be accepted for vacancies in Deltona Water, Public Works/Stormwater, Code Compliance, Parks & Recreation and City Clerk departments.

A list of available jobs, which is periodically updated, are available at deltonafl.gov.

City staff will assist walk-in applicants with initial job applications. Although not required, applicants are encouraged to bring copies of their resumes. Some applicants may be selected for additional interviews.

Full-time city employees receive health and dental insurance, vacation, sick leave, group life insurance and are eligible for Florida Retirement System benefits.

Law firm names marketing director

Lisa Viccaro has joined Rue and Ziffra as the Port Orange-based law firm's new marketing director.

A well-established marketing professional in Volusia County, Ms. Viccaro has nearly 30 years of experience in advertising and marketing in the community. She previously worked at Halifax Health, managing the marketing team’s efforts and strategy for three community hospitals and outpatient facilities as well as owned and operated an advertising agency.

Ms. Vicarro earned a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from Nova Southeastern University.

DQ Grill & Chill Restaurant opens

American Dairy Queen Corp. announced the opening of a DQ Grill & Chill restaurant at 3817 Clyde Morris Blvd. in Port Orange.

The DQ Grill & Chill features a modern look and feel with comfortable booths, large wooden tables, warm lighting and upbeat music. The location will be owned by Pragnesh Patel, a longtime operator with Dairy Queen with a handful of restaurants already open throughout Central Florida.

Dunes Brewing will open at noon Friday, Oct. 1, at 59 Dunlawton Ave., Port Orange.

Soft Skills Youth Summit

Addressing a need identified throughout the region and across industry sectors, the Daytona Regional Chamber is partnering with Volusia County Schools, with support from CareerSource Flagler Volusia, to host a Soft Skills Youth Summit from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6 at Speedway Indoor Karting in Suite 300 at 2455 W. International Speedway Blvd., Daytona Beach.

About 100 high school juniors and seniors will take part in the interactive program with business leaders sharing their expertise on the requirements of a professional workplace.
