Halifax Humane Society appoints interim CEO

The Board of Directors of Halifax Humane Society have appointed Pam Clayton, the chief financial and development officer, as interim CEO.

Ms. Clayton has been with HHS for five-years, first serving as special events manager for one year and then as CFDO for the last four years. She temporarily replaces Miguel Abi-hassan, who resigned for another job opportunity.

Economic Prosperity Hour

The Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce will host an Economic Prosperity Hour from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the Anderson-Price Building, 42 N. Beach St., Ormond Beach.

Featured speakers will be Nancy Lohman and Mica Lill, community health manager of Halifax Health.

The topic will be diabetes awareness and the opening of the Lohman Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology.

Doors open and breakfast starts at 7:30 a.m. with the program at 7:45 a.m.

Seating is limited. Admission is $10 for chamber members online or $15 at the door and $25 for non-members.

The Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Southern Magnolia Health & Wellness at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, in Suite 116 at 533 N. Nova Road, Ormond Beach.

Tanger Outlets adding retailers

Tanger Outlets Daytona Beach will welcome new additions to its retail roster soon.

TravisMathew, Maui Nix Surf Shop and Shellsea will open soon at the outlet center, joining the outlet center’s latest addition, Zumiez, which opened recently.

TravisMathew is a premier men’s golf and lifestyle brand that brings a touch of the Southern California coast to its everyday wear. It will occupy a 4,000-square-foot space at Suite 830.

Local favorite Maui Nix Surf Shop will open doors later this year in Suite 975 with a 3,000-square-foot retail space. The family-owned, Daytona Beach-based brand features innovative surfboards and surf accessories including tees, swimwear and wetsuits.

Another popular local retailer, Shellsea, is set to open by the holiday season. The women’s boutique has a unique, trendy style. The new 2,400-square-foot space will occupy Suite 650.

Open for business

Salty Pint, a neighborhood pub serving sandwiches and brews, has opened in Daytona Beach Shores.

Salty Pint is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and is in the Winn Dixie shopping center at 2136 S. Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach Shores.

American Airlines returns flights to Philadelphia

After a successful seasonal run, American Airlines is bringing back nonstop flights between Daytona Beach International Airport and Philadelphia for the holiday season.

The flights run Dec. 16 to Jan. 3 on peak days, departing PHL at 1:30 p.m. and arriving in DAB at 4:03 p.m. Flights will depart DAB at 4:33 p.m. and arrive at 6:51 p.m. in PHL.

American Airlines also offers multiple, daily nonstop flights between DAB and Charlotte, NC.

Daytona city manager will speak to PR group

Daytona Beach City Manager Deric C. Feacher will talk about Leadership Through Communication during an Oct. 21 luncheon meeting of the Volusia/Flagler Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association.

The luncheon will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Dennis McGee Room at Daytona Beach International Airport, 700 Catalina Drive, Daytona Beach.

The cost is $25 for members, $30 for non-members and $10 for virtual attendance.
