B&B planned in NSB

Paul P. Partyka, a partner at NAI Realvest, represented the owners, Geneva Vollrath and Russell Clark, in the sale of 110 S. Peninsula Ave., New Smyrna Beach.

The buyers, Jami Hanson, Taryn Christy and Sara Meyer, bought the 4,592-square-foot, 0.21-acre property for $544,500.

The property, a two-story brick building with a pool and separate rear house, is a historic building constructed in 1923 that was originally a single-family home. It was later converted to an office building. The new owners plan to convert it to a bed and breakfast. Kaisey Rosell of Collado Real Estate represented the buyers.

Twin Peaks restaurants planned in Daytona area

Twin Peaks CEO Joe Hummel announced July 22 the company has entered an area development agreement with partners Ricky Warman of Pinecrest and Mike Cothern of Ormond Beach to open restaujrants in the Daytona Beach area.

Mr. Warman expects to open three Twin Peaks in the area, with the first to open in fall 2022. Exact locations weren't available.

Mr. Warman invested in the brand’s Fort Myers lodge in 2015 before deciding to franchise locations in Daytona Beach.

Saw Palmetto Berry information meeting

The Volusia County Extension Service will host a saw palmetto berry information and networking meeting at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at 3100 E. New York Ave., DeLand.

Harvesting saw palmetto berries requires a mandatory permit from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Guest speakers will include representatives of the department; local and state law enforcement; industry producers, harvesters and buyers; and Saw Palmetto Market LLC.

DBIA named tops for commercial service

Daytona Beach International Airport was named Florida's 2021 Commercial Service Airport of the Year by the Florida Department of Transportation.

The award was announced at the FDOT Annual Aviation Awards ceremony in conjunction with the Florida Airports Council Annual Conference.

The award is given to airports that have proven exceptional aviation safety, completed aesthetic improvements and shown innovative management solutions.

DBIA's terminal renovation includes a new coastal ecology design with emphasis on natural light and the use of a neutral color palette. A new natural stone water tower provides a therapeutic experience for visitors.

Pesticide training offered

University of Florida Institute of Flood and Agricultural Sciences will host join the Conga Line CEU day.

The course, which offers certification for athletic fields, golf courses and landscaping, will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at the Volusia County Extension Service, 3100 E. New York Ave., DeLand.

The two-part program offers six continuing education units. The themed pesticide program, which includes lunch with paid registration, costs $60.
