New Aldi

ALDI is significantly investing in Volusia County, opening a store Thursday, June 24, in DeLand with a store in Edgewater under construction.

The grocer will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:25 a.m. June 24 at 2701 S. Woodland Blvd.

ALDI is one of the fastest-growing retailers in the U.S., with more than 2,000 stores in 37 states, and plans to open about 100 new stores nationwide by the end of 2021. This growth is propelled by a more than $5 billion, multi-year ALDI investment to open new and remodel existing stores. Through its aggressive expansion, ALDI is on pace to become the third-largest grocery retailer by store count by the end of 2022, according to company officials.

“We are proud of our continued success in the market, and we are excited for the busy year ahead,” said Matt Thon, Aldi's Haines City division vice president, in a news release. “We contribute this rapid expansion to our loyal, passionate fans that continue to share our story with their friends and family.”

ALDI stores are purposefully designed for simplicity and efficiency. A typical store is about 12,000 square feet of retail space, making them easier to navigate than traditional grocery stores. Stores also feature open ceilings, natural lighting and are built with environmentally friendly materials. Most importantly, ALDI stores are optimized to provide the cleanest and safest shopping environment possible, as the health and safety of customers and employees is the company’s top priority. In addition, the retailer remains focused on ensuring stores are stocked with food and household essentials customers need, including healthy, convenient options and a robust selection of produce delivered fresh to stores daily.

Known as private-label pioneers, the ALDI business model is intentionally designed to offer customers high-quality products at unbeatable prices, every day. When it comes to value, ALDI won’t be beat on price, and for the past 10 years, ALDI has held the title of Value Leader among U.S. grocery stores, according to the Market Force Information U.S. Grocery Competitive Study.

Aldi has two stores in Daytona Beach and ones in New Smyrna Beach and Ormond Beach as well as another in DeLand.
