The Daytona Beach Symphony Society will host the Royal National Ballet as they perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 19, at Peabody Auditorium, 600 Auditorium Blvd., Daytona Beach.
This highly anticipated American debut performance, called Fire of Georgia, combines Georgian folk dances with a modern attitude toward choreography and costumes.
This performance by The Royal National Ballet is different from any other and illustrates the variety of the world’s folklore and classical dance elements, showcasing the power, acrobatics and stunts of the male dancers as well as the graceful and charming steps of the female dancers.
Georgian dance is a celebration of life and of Georgia’s rich and diverse culture. The dances perfectly capture the natural gracefulness and beauty of Georgian women and the courage, honor and respectfulness of Georgian men. The male dancers perform spectacular leaps and turns with incredible spins and can also boast a highly original technique since, unlike any other dancers in the world, they dance on their toes without the aid of “block” shoes. The female dancers “glide” like swans.
Tickets, which are $28 to $98 plus applicable service fees, are available at dbss.org or in person at Peabody Auditorium, 600 Auditorium Blvd. in Daytona Beach.
